Elena Satut currently serves as Administrative Assistant and Interim Program Coordinator for the Western Region in the San Francisco office. She began working for HIP in March of 2008. Prior to joining HIP, Elena attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She graduated from the Residential College at U of M with majors in English and Spanish. She worked through college at the Graduate Library and the University Flower Shop. During her college years, she was most committed to the school-sponsored organization called PALMA (Proyecto Avance: Latino Mentoring Association) through which she tutored bilingual children for three years.

Elena is half-Cuban and proficient in Spanish. Elena was born in Boston, grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and currently lives in Bernal Heights, San Francisco. She is learning how to play the guitar and use a sewing machine. Eventually Elena would like to become an art teacher, but at HIP she is grateful and very happy to see and learn how to make change in the non-profit world.
