Kate Seely is the Special Projects Manager, President's Office. Prior to joining HIP, Kate spent three years in Oaxaca, Mexico, where she co-founded and co-directed the nonprofit Puente a la Salud Comunitaria. Puente works to eradicate malnutrition in rural Oaxacan communities by conducting workshops on nutritional education and, more specifically, the highly nutritious grain amaranth. She currently serves as the President of Puente’s Board of Directors. Kate has spent almost five years living in Latin America in countries such as Mexico, Argentina, and Costa Rica, during which time she has been engaged in issues surrounding education and poverty.
Kate received her B.A. from Middlebury College in Latin American Studies and is fluent in English and Spanish. She works both personally and professionally toward improving social justice and the economic development of rural Latin America. As a San Francisco native, when Kate is not working, she loves exploring the outdoors, taking advantage of the wealth of culture in the city, and spending time with her family.
