Membership: A place to exchange ideas

"HIP membership has helped me connect to a national network of grantmakers and leaders in our field to exchange ideas, learn the trade and make great friendships!"

-Arturo Vargas
Trustee, The Edward W. Hazen Foundation

HIP’s membership includes staff and trustees of grantmaking institutions, individual philanthropists, and nonprofit service and advocacy organizations serving Latino communities.  Our members represent a growing network of Latino leaders working to strengthen Latino communities across the Americas.

While HIP is first and foremost an association of grantmakers, we recognize the contributions which others make to the field and maintain an open organization which includes nonprofits, consultants and academics.  In order to maintain the integrity of our network and to maximize participation at HIP events and gatherings, HIP maintains a strict "No Solicitation" policy.  HIP gatherings, events, convenings, and meetings are not a forum for fundraising and prospecting.

Membership Levels

HIP has four membership levels and benefits to meet the diverse needs of our network.

Institutional Members:
We encourage foundations, other grantmaking entities and individual philanthropists to take a leadership role in the guidance and development of HIP’s mission and invite them to join as Institutional Members. Institutional Membership is evidence of a strong and active level of involvement in the Latino and Latin American civil sector. These members are committed to collaboration and diversity and work in partnership with HIP to serve the Latino community. This membership level includes recognition on our website and in our Annual Report, reduced fees at conferences and events, and the designation of an unlimited number of individuals for HIP membership. Annual dues: $10,000+

Organizational Members:
We invite foundations, other grantmaking entities and individual philanthropists that share HIP’s commitment to diversity and collaborative work at an organizational level to join us as at this tier. The organization as well as its staff and trustees are active participants in HIP programs. This level includes the designation of up to five (5) individuals for HIP membership, as well as recognition on our website and in our Annual Report. Annual dues: $3,000-$9,999

Individual Members:
We welcome staff and trustees of grantmaking entities as well as individual philanthropists to join us as Individual Members and to actively participate in the HIP network and regional and national activities. Annual dues: $250

Membership for the first three levels includes:
