"African by Legacy, Mexican by Birth" is an exhibition of original portraiture and literature that explores the historical roots of the African population in contemporary Mexico and pays tribute to this under-recognized segment of the African Diaspora.  The exhibition will be at the Galeria de la Raza in San Francisco from August 12 to October 14, 2006.

Put on by The Mexican Museum and Caribbean Cultural Center/African Diaspora Institute, NY, this exhibition was organized by the Franklin  H. Williams Caribbean Cultural Center/African Diaspora Institute, with support from the C.S. Mott Foundation, California Wellness Foundation, Marguerite Casey Foundation, PepsiCo Foundation, and Douglas X Patiño.  The Mexican Museum presentation was supported by the C. S.
