Foundations for Los Angeles?  The Scale, Scope and Reach of Foundation Philanthropy in Los Angeles County

Dr. James M. Ferris, director of the Center on Philanthropy and Public Policy at USC, will present findings from the Center’s study, Foundations for Los Angeles?  The Scale, Scope and Reach of Foundation Philanthropy in Los Angeles County. A panel of foundation leaders will respond to this report and to provide additional context. Challenges facing organizations serving low income and underserved communities will be outlined, along with potential solutions for increased funding.  This will be the first presentation of a series addressing this issue.

The purpose of this series is to identify promising practices that can enhance the capacity of organizations serving low-income and underserved communities while helping to secure increased funding from local and national sources. Grantmakers and other stakeholders will learn more about the current state of funding (including health) in local communities, with specific emphasis on levels of support from national funders.
