HIP Annual Membership Meeting Sunday, May 7th 8:00 am - 11: 00 am David Lawrence Convention Center Room 319
Pulitzer Prize winner Sonia Nazario joins us as our featured speaker at our membership meeting. A reporter for the Los Angeles Times, Sonia has just published a book, Enrique’s Journey (www.enriquesjourney.com.), which chronicles the story of a Honduran boy who struggles to join his mother in the United States by traveling atop perilous trains through Mexico.

Sonia’s book puts a face to the issues of our transnational communities, and a compelling case for advancing a human rights agenda across the Americas. Sonia will speak to us following a short HIP business meeting, which will include the election of new board members and a presentation on the strategic plan. HIP members Ron Gallo of the Rhode Island Foundation, Tara Sandercock of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, Maria Teresa Rojas of the Open Society Institute, and Marta Tellado of the Ford Foundation will join Sonia for a discussion following her remarks.
