Surviving and Thriving as a Person of Color in Philanthropy Workshop and Reception

Tuesday, July 19, 2005

5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

NOTE THIS CHANGE IN VENUE:

NYRAG

79 Fifth Avenue, Fourth Floor

(Fifth Avenue & 16th Street)

New York, NY 10003

HIP and ABFE, a Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities, are launching a new multi-year collaboration. This kick-off event will offer insightful discussion of the common challenges that people of color face in philanthropy. By working together, Latinos and Blacks have such incredible potential to change the face of mainstream philanthropy.

HIP and ABFE have worked together in the past, but this new partnership will ensure sustained collaboration and institutional support over an extended period of time, thanks in part to a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. This joint effort begins on July 19th, and we hope that you will be a part of this critical conversation. Only with your involvement will this sustained 2-½ year partnership between HIP and ABFE allow us to address the growing disparities in funding that face communities of color.

A networking reception for HIP and ABFE members will be followed by an interactive workshop discussion in a “role-play” format. Workshop participants will include Philanthropy Interns from Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), which provides talented college students of color with access to career opportunities in philanthropy. Come share your experiences with the next generation of leaders of color in the field.

Seating is limited; please register through HIP's website by Thursday, June 30th: /home/forms/Event+Registration.htm?Event=NYC+ABFE-HIP+Workshop+July+19
