August 2007- Hispanics in Philanthropy announces a Partnership with the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado (LCFC) and the opening of a grant round in Colorado.
The LCFC – HIP Partnership is a new initiative to expand the amount, impact, and leverage of individual giving by Latino leaders to their local communities. Though Latino communities are traditionally generous, Latinos often go unrecognized as philanthropic contributors. LCFC Founders are a diverse group of community leaders, business owners, and families who have come together to invest in their community. This investment is being matched dollar-for-dollar by HIP, leveraging a substantial investment in Colorado’s Latino nonprofits and their leaders.
Through this partnership—that Colorado is pioneering—Latino participation and leadership throughout philanthropy will increase, as will the effectiveness of Latino-led nonprofits in the state. This is an effort by Latinos, for Latinos, with support from those that believe in the potential of Latinos regardless of race or background.
The LCFC - HIP Partnership will provide grants, technical assistance, leadership training, and networking opportunities, all of which will help Latino organizations gain new skills and greater visibility within philanthropy. This partnership will not fund specific programs; instead it focuses on supporting organizational capacity building and leadership development to ensure that Latino organizations are better able to sustain their work and have an ongoing role in developing sound public policy as well as provide new and better services to the local Latino population.
