HIP and Washington, D.C.-Area Funders Celebrate First Round of Grants to Local Latino Nonprofits
On June 21st, HIP and its DC funding partners hosted a reception at the Inter-American Development Bank to celebrate the completion of the DC Funders’ Collaborative’s first year and the first round of grants - $425,000 to 13 local Latino nonprofits. Earlier the same day, we also held the first grantee convening at the DC site.
The reception was attended by approximately 60 people, and featured speakers included Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the Inter-American Development Bank, and HIP President Diana Campoamor.
The reception was an opportunity for public recognition of both funders and grantees in Washington, D.C, HIP's newest Funders' Collaborative site. Media coverage included Univision, which interviewed Diana and Luis Moreno, and lead that evening's news broadcast with their story on the event.
The grantee convening held earlier that day featured trainings on "Fundraising 101" and "How to Make a Succesful Hire." Positive feedback from grantees indicated that they found the trainings to be useful and engaging, such as one grantee who said, “the technical assistance training offered last week was better than I ever expected. It was not only very informative, but taught/shared in an engaging way.”
