HIP Conference 2020

HIP is accepting session ideas from members, partners and HIP Líderes (current year and alums) from across the Americas for its 2020 Annual Conference taking place June 1-3 in Los Angeles, California. HIP wants our partners to have the transnational platform to highlight your work, innovation, and latest initiatives. Member foundations, individuals, organizations, and affinity groups are strongly encouraged to partner with one another to pool creativity and expertise and share responsibilities. Upon submission, HIP retains the right to ask organizations to partner on similar topics.

  • Submission Deadline – January 10, 2020

  • Notifications of Acceptance — March 2020

  • Schedule Announcement — April 2020

HIP’s 2020 Annual Conference, Nuestro Momento, Nuestro Poder/ The Time is Now, the Power is Ours will focus on how philanthropy is organizing, investing, and catalyzing change at this critical moment.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, philanthropic investment and/or philanthropy’s role in:

  • Racial & ethnic justice

  • Forced migration & relocation across the Americas

  • Gender equity

  • Civic participation and engagement

  • Climate crisis & environmental justice

  • Health equity

  • Investing in children and families

Priority will be given to session ideas that seek to lift up the work being done by grassroots organizations and in communities, those that bring forward-looking but actionable ideas for achieving change, and ideas for interactive sessions that get the audience involved and thinking differently.

The strongest proposals will reflect a diverse range of presenters encompassing but not limited to ethnicity, race, age, gender, sexual orientation and gender identification, economic circumstance, and people with disabilities.

Presenters and speakers are expected to cover your own expenses. If speakers only plan to attend the conference to present at their session, HIP will offer complimentary registration for their speaking day only.

Please emphasize to your non-foundation-affiliated presenters that HIP appreciates their willingness to share time, expertise, and knowledge with conference participants but requests that they refrain from soliciting business or contributions during sessions.
